The Great Pumpkin Run

Fall is my absolute favorite season. I heard my coworkers talking about a pumpkin run, so I looked it up… 1/4 zip tech hoodie, finisher’s medal, apple cider, small pumpkin to take home, entry to the farm all day… SOLD!

We registered for the 5k and added the Tough Pumpkin option. The Tough Pumpkin lets you choose a pumpkin up to 10 lbs to carry with you throughout the entire race. You get to take that pumpkin home AND you get an additional Tough Pumpkin medal.

Early packet pick-up was at Glory Days Grill in Frederick. I don’t like having to worry about picking up my bib on race morning, so we drove up to Frederick on Friday night, picked up our bibs, and ate dinner at Glory Days.

The Great Pumpkin Run took place at Crumland Farms in Frederick, Maryland. We drove up Saturday morning since our wave didn’t start until 10:20AM. Parking cost $10 per car. After we parked, we picked out our pumpkins, then waited for our wave to start.

It wasn’t crowded at all, so we jumped in with the 10:00 wave and started a little earlier.

The course was challenging since we ran on dirt roads, gravel, and hay. It was also a little hilly.

After we crossed the finish line, we got our 2 medals (one for the 5k and one for the Tough Pumpkin), then took some pictures with the backdrop.

We then headed over to get our free apple cider. The line for cider was long, but it moved pretty quickly. It was the best apple cider I’ve ever had!

Race registration includes entry to the farm all day, so we hung out for a little bit, then went to brunch at Cracker Barrel in Frederick.
